Last month saw our 16th Annual Client Conference take place at Queenstown in New Zealand’s glorious South Island – we had a fantastic turnout with more than 200 delegates in attendance, a conference sell-out. While there were many familiar faces present, we were also thrilled to welcome a significant number of APS conference first timers – a result of the growth in our client base over the past 12 months.
While the conference provided an evergreen opportunity for clients to review our software roadmap and a number of forthcoming product updates, most importantly the APS client conference enables clients to spend time with the APS team as well as other firms.
With the changeover to our new logo and livery coming only a few weeks before the conference, it was only fitting that the theme for the event should be ‘Accountable Technology’. In so many ways our annual conference is the manifestation of ‘accountable’ in action, with our developers, our consultants, our business development and management teams all being so strongly represented.
For the 11th consecutive year Bruce Hopkins performed admirably as Master of Ceremonies. Delegates were highly entertained by key note speaker Steve Price who managed to very articulately reinforce the conference theme and the importance of leadership and integrity in building relationships.
Over the past year we have taken on board your suggestions regarding our software suite and were proud to deliver significant developments particularly around Workflow & Resource Planning, Advance Document Management and ‘new’ CRM. The sessions denoted for Partners were well attended with the Shirlaws Succession Planning & Practice Valuation session particularly popular. Many of the workshops were full to capacity with extra seating required for many sessions. Again, the Lab sessions were a proven success as they allowed attendees to delve deeper into the particular software applications alongside our own team members.
Of course, as is the case at all APS conference, delegates and our own team members alike enjoyed a drink, the dinners and all the entertainment that the few days away has to offer. The ‘BankLink Drinks’ – an APS Conference institution – were ever popular with a stunning evening and Gondola ride to the Skyline Restaurant. Congratulations to Steve Furlong and the team from Furlong & Associates who won the major prize for the Theme Dinner – showcasing a stunning suite of ‘Bond Girls’.
Finally, its never too early to start planning for the next APS Conference – and it will most likely be held for the first time in NSW to celebrate 10 years of APS in Australia. We hope to advise you of the dates and venue early in 2008 as there is likely to be a capacity number of attendees once more. Watch this space!
