Qualifications / Background: Bachelor of Computer Science. I started as a developer and over time my role grew into becoming a systems analyst.
How long have you worked at APS? 14 years
What attracted you to APS? I started contracting towards the end of 1993 when APS was in its infancy. I became a full time employee in January 1994 and so I was part of the team that brought the very first Advance products to the market that year.
What is it about APS that makes it an attractive place to work? APS constantly challenges me, as the business has grown we have had to work through all the ups and downs. Even though I am based in New Zealand I am lucky enough to visit the other APS offices on a regular basis and work closely with the entire APS team.
Career high (so far!) – Biggest achievement Our re-branding last year, for me reflected the journey of the past 15 years. I also have such great pride in our software, particularly Practice Management as it has been my baby since it was born.
What have been your biggest learning's? Learning to work in a team and learning to coach the team. Learning how to get the best results from people while having fun and at the same time!
What are some of the things you look forward to accomplishing while working at APS? To leave behind good processes to help other staff members. To know that as a growing we can retain the culture we have strived so hard to build for the last 15 years.
For relaxation Time with my family who I am very proud of, my friends who make life great and lots of walking and All Blacks matches (accompanied with great food and wine)!
Best indulgence Lying in the sun with friends while drinking champagne….
Personal philosophy Continually put a positive face forward, look for some good in everything no matter how dismal it may seem.
Best advice Enjoy the weather, good and bad and don’t rush your journeys - they are part of your life. |
