Overview

This course is designed to review some of the basic functionality within the XPA application, but more importantly focus on the area’s that will provide you quicker and efficient processing, better reporting outcomes and greater understanding of what XPA can do for you. All features and functionality introduced in XPA 8.6 and XPA 9.0 will be covered in the course, and also the fundamental basics will be reviewed.

Learning Objectives

In this workshop we will –

  • Ensure the user has a working knowledge of where files and sheets are stored on their network
  • Ensure the user knows the difference between templates and ledgers
  • Ensure the user has a working knowledge of how to create ledgers from various sources and what the benefits are of using different sources
  • Ensure the user knows how to set up and complete the ledger details
  • Ensure the user knows how to maintain the chart of accounts
  • Ensure the user knows how to do data entry, post entries and set user and practice options
  • Ensure the user knows how to add asset groups, assets and pooling
  • Ensure the user knows how to correctly use asset transactions (sales, part sales, transfer to pool, comparative and other adjustments)
  • Ensure the user knows how to distribute profits in a discretionary trust and superannuation fund
  • Ensure the user knows all the functionality within the Account Code Translate function
  • Ensure the user knows how to update Financial Reporting Fields and what this means to your financial report preparation
  • Ensure the user knows how to run a set of financial statements from Xcede
  • Ensure the user knows how to take on a comparative trial balance with assets
  • Ensure the user knows how to use the comparative journal and balances options
  • Ensure the user knows how to balance forward a ledger to a new financial year
  • Introduce the Chart Mapping tool to import balances and / or transactions from 3rd party commercial ledger applications

Prerequisites

It is preferable that users have some working knowledge of XPA v8.3 or above.  The basic components will be addressed briefly, and the value added items will be covered in more detail to ensure users are getting the most value of XPA.
